Temporarily A Mommy Of Three

I am writing two days in a row..WOW! My friend Heidi (The mom of the little boy I do daycare for) has been in the hospital for a few days and they have finally figured out what is wrong with her. It turns out her severe back pain is due to a torn herniated disk. I have been playing Mommy to Brendan since 6 am yesterday morning, and it sounds like I will continue to do so until about 11:30 am tomorrow. Please pray that the doctors are able to get Heidi's pain under control, and that Chris and I survive the temporary role of parents of three.

Yesterday, my Stepdad Greg, celebrated his 50th Birthday. My Mom had a bunch of close family and friends over to celebrate, and made a feast (of course.) Chris did really well with eating the right things and the right portions..I, on the other hand, did not do so well. BUT, thank Goodness WW offers Flex Points. I did do okay, and I still have Flex Points to spare, so I should be okay with the diet this week.

A Six Month Update

It has been over six months since my last posting, and believe it or not, I still remember my login. So, in the past six months a couple of things have changed in the Good lives.

My album business was booming this past fall/winter, to the point that I wasn't sure that I would ever catch up. I am finally pretty much there now.

Also, this past fall my friend Heidi gave birth to a little boy named Brendan this past September, and I am now his daycare provider. The hours are usually really nice (9:30-5:30 everyday.) Heidi has had some really bad back pains the past few days and has had to be hospitalized. We are keeping Brendan overnight tonight while the doctors try to figure out what's wrong and they try to get her pain under control. This is going to be a true test for Chris and I whether we want to have any more children. Brendan is a great baby. He is really only fussy when he's hungry or tired, and he's still taking two naps during the day (about 2-3 hours each,) which means my actual babysitting time is pretty slim. I know this isn't going to last very long, so I'll take the naps while I can get them.

Chris and I took our first trip out of state this past October since before Brianna was born more than 3 years ago. We celebrated our lucky 7th anniversary in style by going to Las Vegas. Unfortunately it wasn't THAT lucky since we didn't win any money, but Chris and I got to see a phenominal show ("O") and also have a fabulous dinner at the Eifle Tower Restaurant at the Paris Hotel/Casino. It was a fun (but exhausting) trip, and Chris and I were able to spend some time together which doesn't happen as often as we'd like.

Chris and I both started Weight Watchers again last week, and I am so proud of Chris..he lost 12 pounds in his first week. I lost 4 pounds. It's been really hard to cut out the sweet tooth, but I think we'll manage if we are both on the program and are able to support each other. Besides, we can still eat the "naughty foods," just not EVERYDAY. According to Chris' blog, his goal is to get to the weight of 190 lbs. My goal is 150 lbs. I have 25 pounds to go. Considering at one time I weighed 230 pounds, I am already over 2/3 of the way there. I really want to reach this goal by August, when my High School reunion rolls around. BTW, I graduated in 1996..so I guess my graduating class has a problem with procrastination. Oh Well, better late than never, right!?

Brianna is as smart as a whip these days, and she doesn't forget ANYTHING so we really have to be careful what we say around her. She loves to color, and make "decorations" out of construction paper. She also loves to watch her movies (Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses is a current favorite..Thanks Uncle Joe and Auntie Erica.) She is already talking about having a Barbie birthday party (but her birthday isn't until September.)

Dylan..OH DYLAN...he will be 2 years old next month, and he is CRAZY. He is finally starting to say a few words, and is also starting to listen and follow directions. He is all boy though. He doesn't at all mind being dirty, and he likes to get into EVERYTHING. I am curious to take him to the doctor for his checkup, just to see how much he weighs. I know one of these times, he'll have Brianna beat. At church, we call him Houdini, since he has successfully escaped his classroom on numerous occasions. Sometimes I wonder if he is waiting for just the right moment..like he's plotting his escape. One thing I absolutely LOVE about Dylan is his affection. He loves to give hugs and kisses, and he will almost always be willing to cuddle with you. Our friends say he is the best welcoming commitee we could ask for.

That's pretty much all that is new. Sorry to any fans I may have had out there. I am not really good at blogging :(

Not Much New

This past weekend was the big Birthday Bash up north..I think everyone had a good time, but many people weren't feeling the best on Sunday. Overall I think it was a great weekend.
Tonight I have a consultation with a couple getting one of my albums, so I am pretty excited about that. I am already so far behind on my albums. I have seven of them to do so far, with at least one new wedding almost every weekend. Gotta get going on those; especially since we have the new van to pay for.
Brianna and Dylan are doing well. Chris and I think Dylan may have (seasonal) allergies a little bit, he's been a bit wheezy, but Dr. Welch checked him out (even did a chest X-ray) but says he's okay. Benadryl seems to help him a bit too. Brianna has been crazy about drawing lately (that's MY daughter.) I don't think she knows what she drawing until she's done, but she actually made a darn good ladybug and a chicken..my little artist.
Not a whole lot is new since my last posting. Chris and I will be going up north for a little over a week for the Fourth of July, and I am really looking forward to that. I'll have to bring my album work with me; hopefully I won't be too lazy to actually get some of it done. More to come.

The Twins Are Here!

Okay, so it has been over a month since my last posting..my apologies to any fans I may have. This past month has been extremely crazy, but it should be calming down now.
Today was probably the biggest day for me this part month..Chris and I became proud new parents to a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country mini-van. I'm a Soccer-Mom now :) While we were at the dealership filling out paperwork, I received a phone call that Erica (my step-brother's (Joe) girlfriend) went into labor. Erica wasn't due to have the TWINS until August 9th, but they decided to come a wee bit early.

Baby A: Cameron Doulas
2 lbs, 2 oz
14 3/4"

Baby B: Caleb Joseph
2 lbs, 9 oz
15 1/4'

They are very small, but seem to be doing quite well..Congratulations Joe an Erica

My friend Heidi, whom I mentioned in a previous posting was married on May 5th (I was the Matron Of Honor.) The wedding went very well. It's nice to be done with wedding stuff..Chris and I have been able to spend some time up north and loving it. This past weekend (Memorial) was awesome..the weather was perfect..hot and sunny..okay, maybe not too perfect since most of us are sunburnt, but it sure is better than the typical rain and cold that normally happens that weekend.

Coming up in the next couple of weeks:
Troy (our very good friend) turns 30..or as he would call it.. 29 the sequel
Jason (my brother) turns 21
Chad (Chris' brother) graduates from Dunwoody

Congratulations to you all!!

More later..gotta hit the hay..IT'S LATE!!

BUSY BUSY

Chris and I have yet to meet with the last builder, but Jim is back in town and said he could set that up for us. So, I'll write more about that when it happens.
I am getting really excited for this weekend. My friend Heidi, whom I have known for over 20 years, is getting married next weekend and I am the matron-of-honor. I'll be throwing her a bridal shower and bachelorette party this Friday. We'll be staying at a hotel downtown, and partaking in some of the nightlife Minneapolis has to offer. I am hoping that it will be a great time. Then on Saturday, Chris and I will be watching Logan..he is the son of Jessica and Jesse (Jessica is a friend of Chris' from high school) Unfortunately Jessica's grandmother passed away, and she and Logan are flying up from Arizona for the funeral. Logan has special needs; so please pray everything goes okay. Saturday evening we'll be attending a BBQ and outdoor movie night (weather permitting) at the Welch's. This should be a fun night as long as the kids behave themselves. Sunday is Heidi's rehearsal and groom's dinner. Typically this would be done a day or two prior to the wedding, but the wedding is taking place at the Conservatory and we can't get in any sooner. I have no idea where the dinner is going to be.
These next couple of weeks are really going to be hectic, and even though the events should be fun, I am also looking forward to things settling down. I know I've been itching to get up north too, and we haven't been able to with all of the weekends being so busy. Mother's Day weekend looks like the first possibility. UUugghhh!! Thank you to everyone that will be watching our children for these number of evenings to come.
Dylan seems to be doing good tummy wise..he cut a molar yesterday, which I thought was weird, since he doesn't have his lateral incisors yet. Whatever, just cut the teeth already cranky, snotty boy. (Mommy loves you.)
Not much new to report on Brianna, she's pretty much the same..likes to be as independent as she can be..this can be good and bad!
As for Chris and I, we are good, just very BUSY! I'll write more as things calm down.

Rogers is Realistic (at least for now)

Happy Easter everyone!! Chris and I (along with the kids) attended church yesterday morning, and then went to Chris' sister's for lunch. After that we headed to my parents house. It was a long day.
Dylan is still fighting diarreah, so AGAIN we are putting him on a PediaSure diet for a week. We are trying to take milk out of his diet completely to see if that will help his tummy.
Brianna is doing terrific with potty training. She still won't do #2 in the potty, but other than that..she rarely has an accident. She was a little stinker this weekend. My Mom came home from Canada last week, so the kids and I went to spend the day with my Mom on Friday. Brianna had already had way too much candy, and she kept asking Grandma for more. I finally stepped in, and said "Brianna, No more candy..you've had enough." She turned and looked at me with this scowl on her face and let me have it.."I was TALKING to GRANDMA!" My Mom and I were trying so hard not to laugh. After a couple of minutes, I talked to her and said, "When Mommy says No, then that means No..Please do not ask Grandma if you can have candy anymore." AGAIN, she turns to me and says, "You just be QUIET." What happened to my sweet girl?! I don't much care for the terrible twos!!
Chris and I discussed the subject of moving some more last week, and I think we have pretty much come to the conclussion of staying where we are for now. The houses that we really like are just WAY TOO MUCH MONEY! Maybe in a year or two when we can gain a little more equity in our current home, we will discuss it again. I think we may still meet with the builder that Jim knows and see what he has to offer; but more than likely that will be a dead-end too. Sorry Chad, I guess we won't be neighbors afterall (atleast not right now.)

Happy 30th Birthday Chris!!

Today is my husband Chris' 30th Birthday..We celebrated by going out to dinner with the family to Black Bear Lodge and Saloon (one of Chris' favorite rest. in the area.) We feasted on Prime Rib, had delicious cake, and got to spend some time with people we love. God is good! Brianna and Dylan got Daddy an ipack for his birthday (it's a fancy laptop case that your ipod hooks into..AND there's a remote on the strap..WAY COOL.)
My present to my husband was a night of pampering, which he desperately deserved. I am a very lucky woman; my husband works very hard to allow me to stay home and take care of our children...Oh yeah, and also shop too much. ANYWAY..Chris' brother Chad, and his wife Jen came over at 5:30 for the first shift of babysitting, and Chris still wasn't home. So I called him at work and asked when he'd be home. He finally got home around 6:30 and totally didn't notice that I was dressed up (a skirt and everything..a step up from the normal sweatshirt and jeans.) I finally told him to get dressed an get in the car. First I took him to the "dock" in my old neighborhood (this is where Chris and I had our first kiss, and also where he proposed to me.) I gave him a new wedding band. I was so bummed because I got a size 10, and he was fitted as a 10 1/2. Apparently Titanium cannot be resized..OOPS! He likes it AND It fit's perfectly!! After leaving the old neighborhood we went and checked in at the Northland Inn for the INNdulgence package. We had a nice dinner for two, champagne, strawberries, truffles, and chocolate sauce in the king suite last night, and breakfast in bed this morning. It was wonderful.
Unfortunatley, Chad and Jen's replacements (the second shift (Mesha and John)) got a taste of parenthood..Dylan woke up three times last night, and Brianna woke up once and went to sleep with them in our bed. I'm so sorry guys. Thank you all so much for giving Chris and me this special night away; it means so much to have such wonderful family in our lives. We owe you guys BIG TIME.
Overall I think (or hope) it was a great weekend for Chris. I love you so much Chrissy-poo, I hope you enjoyed your birthday. We'll definately have to schedule a date-night once in a while..it's refreshing!
